What neighborhoods/streets should my husband I try to stay away from in Daytona Beach, FL?

My husband and I are moving to Daytona Beach, FL in a month or two and don’t know the area at all…we don’t know what neighborhoods to stay clear of..we’re looking to move around Embry Riddle University…It’s just us for now..so we’re looking for single family homes…

a relative of mine lives at a gated community called "Pelican Bay" and it’s also a country club. It has some pretty good houses and it is about 5 minutes from the "wright flyer" in the front of embry-riddle. i would reccomend the community for a place to live because of where it’s gated, you don’t have to worry about security that much! Also,I have been to a place called "Down the Hatch" and it’s a great sandwich and seafood restaurant under a bridge as your goin’ under the intercoastal waterway.Be SURE to eat there, though there may be a wait due to the popularity of it! Have fun in Daytona!

i am thinking about moving to florida somewhere on the east coast and above daytona beach. any suggestions?

we want a nice beach home in a good location somewhat private.

Try the St. Augustine area. Very nice homes there several beach places. Nice beaches has that small town feel. St. Johns county is where it is located it is about 40 min north of Daytona and 35min south of Jacksonville. There are several other little coastal towns in this area. St. Agustine is a beautiful city and in fact is the oldest one in America! They have several things to do there and nice beaches. Good places if you are going to have visitors of all ages come see you. St. George street is very neat, old builidings and always something going on. They have good resturants and several grocery stores and places like Target. There is also a ton of activites that the community is envolved in (Christmas here is amazaing see the lights!), there are all kinds of clubs, reenactment groups ect. If you are also looking for something besides a job to keep you busy there are several historical places that always need help. The cost of living is still relativly low for a beach town, I am sure it will go up soon as the condo crazy is starting to move north, but get in now and you will be good! We are currently looking for a home in this area and have food many that we like near the beach, at good prices. I hope this helps you good luck there are some helpful websites below:

fire palm bay

Governor Charlie Crist declared a
state of emergency Monday as dry, windy weather fueled several
wildfires on Florida’s central Atlantic coast, destroying more than
a dozen homes.

Hundreds of residents were under evacuation orders. Firefighters
from around the state and the National Guard were called to assist.

The largest fire was in Malabar, where about 3,000 acres burned and at least two homes have been destroyed. In Palm Bay at least a
dozen homes were damaged.

About 80 miles north in Daytona Beach, an 800-acre fire forced
an evacuation order for about 500 homes, but residents were allowed
to return Monday evening.

No structures were reported damaged, though officials warned
embers could fly more than a mile from the blaze and spark new hot
spots.

A Palm Bay firefighter was injured near Bayside High School.

A Daytona Beach firefighter was also treated at the scene for minor
injures.

Ugly Kid Joe: Cats in the Cradle – Daytona Beach, 1992

Spring Break Jam ’92, Daytona Beach, Florida
——————————

My child arrived just the other day;
Came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay.
He learned to walk while I was away.
He was talkin’ ‘fore I knew it.
And as he grew he said,
“I’m gonna be like you, Dad.
You know I’m gonna be like you.”

Chorus :
And the cat’s in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man on the moon.
“When you comin’ home ?”
“Son, I don’t know when.
We’ll get together then.
You know we’ll have a good time then.”

Well, my son turned ten just the other day.
He said , “Thanks for the ball, Dad. Come on, let’s play.
Could you teach me to throw ?” I said, “Not today.
I got a lot to do.” He said, “That’s okay.”
And he walked away and he smiled and he said,
“You know,
I’m gonna be like him, yeah.
You know I’m gonna be like him.”

Chorus

Well, he came from college just the other day,
So much like a man I just had to say,
“I’m proud of you. Could you sit for a while ?”
He shook his head and he said with a smile,
“What I’d really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys.
See you later. Can I have them please ?”

Chorus :
And the cat’s in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man on the moon.
“When you comin home, Son ?”
“I don’t know when.
We’ll get together then.
You know we’ll have a good time then.”

I’ve long since retired, my son’s moved away.
I called him up just the other day.
“I’d like to see you, if you dont mind.”
He said, “I’d love to, Dad, if I could find the time.
You see my new job’s a hassle and the kids have the flu,
But it’s sure nice talkin’ to you, Dad.
It’s been sure nice talkin’ to you.”

And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me,
He’d grown up just like me.
My boy was just like me.
