Well this upcoming week I’m going to Disney World then Daytona Beach, and I’m supposed to have my period sometime this week, possibly at the beach.

I’m 14, and I do use tampons, regular and super when I go swimming sometimes.

I’m afraid I might attract sharks, and that I’ll have to change so often that it will be noticeable to my family that I’m on my period.

And I also have a problem where when I swim at home, with regular tampons, when I get out after a few hours that I have watered down leaks. They’re mainly water, with a little blood, and this has happened almost every time.

I need advice? I’m scared to swim at the beach on my period. :/

Ok, when you go to the beach for a swim the tampon your wearing will soak up all the blood which wont go into the water. Even if it did, this would not attract sharks, period blood is a different type of blood that wont attract sharks.
Also, it doesnt matter if your family knows your on your period. In fact, it would be a good thing If they didnt know and you didnt go in the water and you kept on looking worried, your family would think that your ill or something and then THEY will worry.
Tampons soak up blood so you should be able to swim until you need to change it. (Hopefully not too often) But if your on a heavy period, you shouldnt swim anyway. Unfortunatly, this is life for a girl.

Walmart and Publix fish are not the best looking fishes for sushi……..

Go down to the boat docks and ask a fisherman if they will sell you some of their catch.

Ok so Im supposed to be moving out of state tomorrow..

Im from a really small town, only 3000 people, and Im going to be moving to a huge city, and I’m scared of the crime rate there..

Oh, don’t worry at all, daytona beach is not that horrible place, it’s Miami when people think of Florida and crime rates. Nothing horrible will happen there and its a rather small town, Florida towns cover a vast area and so it seems those high population numbers are all clustered together but actualy they are spread out. The best thing to do is to imagine you are going on a long journey, you will experience what the people experience in Florida each day. Many people move to places they don’t want to go but once they get used to the new place, they adjust and find things in there they like. If this is not to your decision yet, later in life you will have your on choice of moving wherever you like, sometimes the job leads a person their or they find the place likable. Think of what good in that city, not bad! The beach, attractions, interesting parks in inland Florida.. Here in Tampa, FL they always post a crime in the news paper, I have never seen one, stay in nice neighborhoods and divisions, you will be VERY safe!

Oh, there are a lot of kind elderly people here who retire as they see Florida as being safe and peaceful. Florida does not have those big cities like new york, the cities are spread out and small.

Hey everyone, I love to fish and do a lot of it back home in Ohio but now I go to college in Florida, Daytona Beach, and want to get into Saltwater fishing. I’m only accustomed to freshwater fishing so I pretty much know nothing about fishing saltwater. Ive already got my license… I’m going to try and fish different places off the shore in the Daytona Beach area. I just need some basic advice on a good all around type of rod/reel to get, some basic essential tackle I need and maybe a few techniques and some basic types of bait (Tryin to keep it fairly cheap , Im a college student!). Thanks any help at all is appreciated!

Do you still own or have your freshwater fishing outfit’s? Many Bass fishing outfits can be used in the estuary’s, ICW and flats areas around the Daytona area. If you make sure to wash off your freshwater reels they will last a while. Just make sure to rinse every trip! It only takes 1-2 trips without rinsing and your freshwater outfits will "seize" or corrode.

You picked a nice place to go to college and a GREAT place to fish!

I have fished the East Coast of Fla from Jacksonville to Daytona frequently and know the area well. Here are some "hot spots" to check out:

1. Bulow Creek (located in Bulow Plantation Ruins State Park)- Either fish from the Dock or along the shore. Use a slip-float rig with Live Shrimp. 1/4 OZ saltwater Chartreuse-headed Jigs with Berkley Gulp Jerk Shads & Curly-tailed Grub bodys work well too.

2. Flagler Pier- One of the "fishiest" Piers along the East Coast. You would need a heavier action rod/reel or Surf Fishing outfit to fish here. In fact, the beaches along the Flagler beaches areas are some of the best places in the State to fish for Whiting, Angel, Sheephead, small Shark, Drum, Spanish Macs and Spec Trout.

You would need (at least) a 7- 8FT rod (Ugly Stik Tiger Lite spinning rod $59 heavy-action) and a decent saltwater reel, (Daiwa Black Gold BG-15 spinning reel $75) before hitting the surf or piers. (Spool your BG-15 with 10/40LB Power Pro braided line and MAKE SURE to use a Flurocarbon leader. If you don’t use a leader, when you get snagged/hung on the bottom you won’t be able to break off!)

3. Faver Dykes State Park- The mouth of Pellicer Creek flowing into the Flats surrounding the Marineland area is an AMAZING fishery. You can catch Redfish, Trout, Flounder, Sheephead, Etc. And many areas heading down the Creek can be hot for Red-fishing. Rent a canoe in the State Park (roughly $40-$50 for the day) and paddle down the creek casting a Live Shrimp or Mud-minnows on a Chartreuse-colored 1/4 OZ Jig (or use Berkley GULP on your Jigs) or anchor near the mouth and float some live Shrimp. (This is not a place to "drink" and "carry-on", it is a remote wilderness area that should be respected.)

4. From Crescent Beach-Marineland- From Crescent Beach to Marineland there are many areas to pull off and fish the Matanzas River. Use Saltwater Spinnerbaits dowsed with Pogy flavored saltwater fish attractant, Jig/Mud-minnow, Float a live Shrimp, Etc.

It’s a cliché among liberals to look at the rural American South with snobbery and scorn, condemning an entire region to some Deliverance-stereotype. Bill Maher devotes a few minutes during every episode of his weekly talk show “Real Time with Bill Maher” on HBO (currently on break) to ridiculing the South. The arbitrators of established truth, such as the New York Times, dedicate hours to studying what makes the South “the way it is.” A writer for the liberal magazine Mother Jones recently said his notion of Southern culture was “redacted on advice of my frontal lobe.”

Left-leaning outsiders have mistreated the South for decades and I could go on with my protests. But instead, I think we should turn to an unlikely and unassuming critic, a country superstar who is an outspoken Democrat, has seized the opportunity with much more urgency, authority, and danceability than I ever could.

Tim McGraw’s new single “Southern Voice” from his album of the same name should be required listening for country music fans — and for liberals who amuse themselves, and no one else, by pretending that the American South is simply a pit of toothless, rump-scratching, drunken low-lives whose favorite hobbies are burning crosses, incest, and dropping out of school.

It opens with a Stonesy guitar and bluesy harp, but carries on with an irresistible twang and bouncy beat. The infectious hook should stay with any listener long after the song’s conclusion. Although, like much of McGraw’s music it is overly polished, “Southern Voice” has a refreshingly adult and ragged sentimentality that is desperately needed in country music, especially after Taylor Swift won Entertainer of the Year at this year’s Country Music Awards.

The song becomes very interesting once one listens to the words.

i’d like some ideas to act out, or to film for our video.

If it was me –

I would use video clips of the people or things mentioned; You could use a vide of Hank Williams singing on stage, video of Dale Earnhardt (#3) racing, I don’t know about Will Faulkner, a video of Aretha Franklin singing, a clip of Dolly Parton singing, a picture of Rosa Parks on the bus (very famous picture), a clip from "Gone With The Wind" (Scarlett O’Hara was the main character).

For the chorus I would use a montage of still photo images of the Appalachia region. There is a pretty good Youtube clip that might give you some different ideas.

That should get you a pretty good start. The people and places that he mentions in the song are all very famous, so you shouldn’t have problem finding video or still images of them. If you can take just a few seconds each and piece them together you should come up with a pretty good video. You can always just get still image pictures depicting each thing and record them into a montage if you don’t want to do video.
